BCT Design Group is proud to announce that Managing Principal Bob Gehrman, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, has been appointed to the Baltimore County Design Review Panel. Panel members are appointed by the County Executive with the consent of the County Council and serve three-year terms.
The Design Review Panel is where Baltimore County decides whether new development leaves a place better than it found it. Its members review projects proposed across the County’s design review areas, communities including Downtown Towson, Catonsville, Pikesville, Dundalk, Essex, and Perry Hall, and they press the questions residents feel every day. Does this building belong on this block? Is the street better to walk down than it was before? Do the parking, the landscape, and the spaces between the buildings serve the people who will actually use them? Those recommendations carry into the County’s formal approval process, giving the Panel a say in how each project meets the community it joins.
Bob has spent more than 30 years at BCT making the case that contextualization is the whole job, that a project is measured by the spaces it creates between and around its buildings as much as by the buildings themselves. As Managing Principal he oversees the firm’s business operations and serves as Principal-in-Charge on projects across the Baltimore-Washington region. He is a registered architect in six states and sits on the boards of the Greater Baltimore Committee, The University of Baltimore’s Real Estate & Economic Development Program, LAI Land Economics Society, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore.
